Things to do

When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life;

for there is in London all that life can afford”.

So wrote Dr Samuel Johnson in the middle of the 18th Century. This has never been truer and the legacy of the London Olympics 2012 has only added to the vibrancy of our fabulous city.

Considering a trip to London?

The culture in this country is vast, and the architecture is magnificent. Historical Great Britain is truly something to experience in your lifetime and London is a surprising city, a perfect place to visit.

London is at once historical yet modern, cultured yet immersed in tradition, vibrant whilst also a quite relaxing place to be.

Visit the London Eye and see London from a totally different perspective – 135 metres up! Or hop on a boat along the River and see the Capital from yet another viewpoint.

You can also see London by bus and there are a number of tour companies offering guided bus tours along various routes around London. If you prefer to do your exploring on foot, why not try out one of the self-guided tours you can buyfor your MP3 player and then stroll around and learn about London at your own pace! Across the River from the Tate Modern is St Paul’s Cathedral; you can reach this by crossing the newest bridge over the river, the Millennium Bridge.

Go shopping in Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street or Knightsbridge. Within these streets are some of the most famous department stores and shops in the world. Alternatively you could visit one of the many street markets like Portobello Market or Camden Market.

London really comes alive in the evening. Stroll through Leicester Square and Covent Garden, where street entertainers are in abundance. Have dinner in the many restaurants that cater for all budgets and tastes, or simply go to a bar and soak up the atmosphere! Soho has an exciting, cosmopolitan and long- established gay and lesbian scene, with many bars, restaurants and clubs in the area to pick from and all just around a mile from our Bloomsbury apartments.
