Visit the
London Eye and see London from a totally different perspective - 135 metres up! Or hop on a boat along the River and see the Capital from yet another viewpoint.
You can also see London by bus and there are a number of tour companies offering guided bus tours along various routes around London. If you prefer to do your exploring on foot, why not try out one of the self-guided tours you can buyfor your MP3 player and then stroll around and learn about London at your own pace! London has an abundance of museums including the irreplaceable
British Museum, visit the
National Art Gallery with its collection of old masters or the newest art gallery in London, the
Tate Modern housed in the old Bank side power station, with a wonderful collection of modern art.
Across the River from the
Tate Modern is
St Paul's Cathedral; you can reach this by crossing the newest bridge over the river, the
Millennium Bridge.
Go shopping in
Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street or
Knightsbridge. Within these streets are some of the most famous department stores and shops in the world. Alternatively you could visit one of the many street markets like
Portobello Market or
Camden Market.
London really comes alive in the evening. Stroll through
Leicester Square and
Covent Garden, where street entertainers are in abundance. Have dinner in the many restaurants that cater for all budgets and tastes, or simply go to a bar and soak up the atmosphere!
Soho has an exciting, cosmopolitan and long- established gay and lesbian scene, with many bars, restaurants and clubs in the area to pick from and all just around a mile from our Bloomsbury apartments. So, whether it is a visit to the many theatres with diverse productions from the latest musical or fringe theatre, it is all here.
We have tried to give you a snapshot of this wonderful city and its diversity. When Dr Johnson was writing in the middle of the 18th Century would he ever have imagined that he was writing about
London in a new Millennium nearly 250 years later!
